Hello all... Today i am sharing with you simple and tasty recipe GREEN PEAS PULAO :) This is one of my favorite recipe. As you all know green peas is very rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. So lets know how to prepare this quick recipe :)
Preparation time : 20 mins
Cooking time : 30 mins
Serves 3
INGREDIENTS
1 and 1/2 glass basmati rice, soaked for 15 mins
3 glasses water
2 onions, diced into slices
2-3 green chillies, cut into slits
1/2 cup mint leaves / pudina leaves
2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 cup green peas, i used frozen ones
Salt as per taste
3 tbsp oil
4 cloves/laung/lavangalu
2 one inch pieces of dalchini/dalchinachekka/cinnamon sticks
4 green cardamom/green elachi
1 whole star anise, broken into pieces
2 bay leaves / biryani leaves
PREPARATION
- Soak basmati rice for 15 mins, keep aside.
- Dice onions into slices, green chillies into slits
- Grind 1 inch ginger pieces and 8-10 garlic pods into paste.
METHOD OF COOKING
- Take a wide cooking vessel, add oil.
- Once the oil is heat add laung, dalchini, green cardamom, star anise and biryani leaves. Let them fry.
- Add onions, mint leaves and green chillies. Let onions fry until golden brown.
- Now add ginger-garlic paste and fry until raw smell goes away.
- Add green peas and fry for 2-3 mins.
- Add 3 glasses water, salt. Let it boil on high flame.
- Reduce the flame to low, add soaked basmati rice. Mix and let it boil on high flame.
- Once it starts boiling reduce the flame to low and keep the lid.
- Cook the rice until water gets completely absorbed. Off the stove and leave it for 5 mins.
- Serve hot with onion raita and any gravy curry of your choice.
TIPS
- Do not overmix the rice after adding in water. This makes the rice sticky.
Hello all... I am back with another dal recipe which is very famous dish in north india i.e., MOONG DAL FRY. Already i posted before DHABA STYLE DAL FRY. Today i am showing you how to prepare dal fry with moong dal. As you all know moong dal is very rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals. Specially this makes the body cool. Addition of tadka and ghee gives a special taste and aroma to the dish. This is a perfect combination for jeera rice and steamed rice.
So lets know how to prepare this tasty and yummy dish :)
Preparation time : 15 mins

Serves 3
INGREDIENTS
1/2 glass moong dal / pesarapappu
1 and 1/2 glass water
1/4 tsp haldi / turmeric powder
1 tbsp ghee
Salt as per taste
FOR THE TADKA/TEMPERING
1 medium onion
2 tomatoes
6-7 garlic pods
2 green chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
2 dried red chillies, broken into 1 inch pieces
1/2 tsp urad dal / minapappu
1/2 tsp mustard seeds / aavalu
1/2 tsp jeera / jeelakarra
3 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp hing
PREPARATION
- Soak the moong dal for 15 mins.
- Dice onions, tomatoes and garlic into small pieces. Slit green chillies and keep aside.
METHOD OF COOKING
- Take a pressure cooker, add dal and water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Once the pressure is gone mash the dal soft.
- Take a cooking pan, add oil. Once the oil is heat add urad dal, mustard seeds, jeera, hing and curry leaves.
- Once they are fried add broken red chillies, green chillies and garlic pieces. Let them fry.
- Add onions and fry them until they turn transparent.
- Add tomatoes, cook them until they turn soft and mushy.
- Add the cooked moong dal, salt and haldi. Mix well and leave for 2-3 mins.
- Add sufficient amount of water, approx 1/2 glass water and mix. Let it cook until gravy thickens.
- Add ghee. Let it cook for 2 mins.
- Serve hot with jeera rice or hot steamed rice.
LEMON KI DAL.... isn't it sounding different???? Yes you heard it right. DAL prepared with lemon juice.... As you all know dal is very rich in proteins and minerals. Addition of tadka and lemon juice gives super taste and aroma to the dish. So lets know how to prepare this dish.. :)
Cooking time : 20 mins
Serves 2-3
INGREDIENTS
1/2 glass turdal / kandipappu / pigeon peas
Juice of 2-3 lemons
Salt as per taste
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/4 tsp haldi / turmeric powder
FOR THE TADKA
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp minapappu/urad dal
1/2 tsp mustard seeds / aavalu
1/4 tsp hing
1 sprig curryleaves
3 dried red chillies, broken into 1 inch pieces
METHOD OF COOKING
- Take a pressure cooker, add dal. For 1/2 glass dal add 1 glass water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles and keep aside.
- Once the pressure goes away transfer the cooked dal into a mixing bowl. Add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Take a tadka pan, add oil. Once the oil is heat add the ingredients mentioned above. Once tha tadka fries add this to the dal mixture. Mix well. Let it cool down to lukewarm.
- Now add lemon juice and mix well.
- Serve immediately with hot steamed rice with dash of ghee.
TIPS
- U can increase or decrease lemon juice quantity as per your taste.
CHALLA CHARU / YOGHURT RASAM... Isn't it sounding different?? Yes its a unique recipe prepared with yogurt or curd. This is a perfect coolant recipe especially in summer... Very simple and quick to prepare with few ingredients which are available in home. Addition of tadka gives extra flavor and aroma to the dish. This recipe i learned from my grandmother and she is an expert in preparing these type of unique dishes.. So lets know how to prepare this dish... :)
Preparation & cooking time : 15 mins
Serves 2-3
INGREDIENTS
3 cups sour curd or fresh curd ( i used sour curd), beat and keep aside
2 tbsp ginger-greenchilli paste
Salt as per taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder/haldi (optional)
1/4 cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
FOR THE TADKA
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp urad dal/ minapappu
1/2 tsp mustard seeds/ aavaalu
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds/menthulu
1/4 tsp hing
1 sprig curry leaves
2-3 dry redchillies, broken into 1 inch pieces
PREPARATION
- Take 1 inch ginger piece and 3 green chillies in a mixie jar and grind into smooth paste.
- Beat curd and keep aside.
METHOD OF COOKING
- Take a mixing bowl, add curd, ginger-greenchilli paste, salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Add water (approx 1/2 glass) and mix well. U can increase or decrease water quantity as per your taste depending on thickness of curd.
- Take tadka pan, add oil. Once the oil is heat add the ingredients FOR THE TADKA mentioned above. Once it is done add this to the curd mixture. Mix well.
- Add chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
- Serve with hot steamed rice.
