APPALU


Hi all.. today i prepared APPALU. This is a very popular recipe served as naivedyam to lord hanuman. This is a traditional sweet dish, very simple and easy to prepare.. I did this as today is hanuman jayanthi... So friends prepare this and njoy...


Preparation time : 20-30min
Cooking time : 10 min
Yields 10 -15 

INGREDIENTS 

3/4 cup wheat flour/godhumapindi
1/4 cup rice flour/biyyampindi
1 cup jaggery, grated
1 cup water
2 spoons ghee
1 tsp elachi powder
oil for deep fry

METHOD OF PREPARATION 


  • Take a pan and add jaggery and water, let the jaggery melt completely in water.
  • Add elachi powder and 1 spoon ghee. Let it boil for 1 min.
  • In the meanwhile mix wheat flour and rice flour in a bowl without any lumps. Add this to the jaggery mixture, mix it and immediately off the gas stove.
  • Add the remaining 1 spoon ghee and mix. Let it cool.
  • Once the mixture is cooled apply ghee or oil on hands and take small lemon sized balls and flat it with your fingers.
  • When these are ready deep fry them in oil on medium heat until they turn golden brown.
  • Garnish with cashew and serve hot or cold
