CORIANDER CHUTNEY / KOTTHIMEERA PACCHADI


CORIANDER / KOTTHIMEERA... is one of my favorite leafy vegetable which i use in daily cuisine.. As u know coriander leaves are used in different varieties in curries, dals, pickles, chutneys, stews etc.. Today i am shring with you different n spicy style chutney learned from my sister-in-law. U can have this with hot rice, chapathi, idly or dosa. Very simple n easy to prepare n tasty too..


Preparation time : 20 min
Cooking time : 5 min

INGREDIENTS

1 bunch coriander leaves, cleaned
1 onion, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
4 green chillies, cut into slits
1 sprig curry leaves
5 garlic pods
salt as per taste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp sugar
3 tbsp oil
1 tsp urad dal / minapappu
1 tsp aavalu / mustard seeds
1/4 tsp menthulu/methi seeds
4 red chillies
1/4 tsp hing / asafoetida

METHOD OF PREPARATION 
  • Take a cooking pan and add oil. Once the oil is heat add urad dal, mustard seeds, methi seeds, garlic pods, greenchillies, redchillies, curryleaves, hing. Let them splutter.
  • Add onions, tomatoes and let them cook.
  • Once they are cooked add the cleaned coriander leaves and let it cook completely.
  • Off the stove and let it cool. 
  • Take a mixie jar and add this fried mixture, salt, turmeric powder, sugar to the jar and grind into a semi coarse paste.
  • Serve immediately with hot rice or as side dish for chapati, idly, dosa etc..
