MAMIDIKAYA/ MANGO PULUSU


MANGO.... This is one of the famous fruit, favorite to all.. This is used widely in cuisine. Very rich in carbohydrates and vitamins. Raw ones are used to make pickles, which is very famous as AVAKAYA. Sharbat of RAW MANGO is very famous in north india popularly known as AAM PANNA which helps in reducing the heat of body. Fruits can be used in juices, ice creams n milkshakes... Today i am shring with you simple, easy n tasty pulusu.. This i learned from my mother in law. ATTAMMA this is for you... :)


Preparation time : 10-15 min
Cooking time : 20-30 min

INGREDIENTS 

1 medium raw mango, boiled and mashed
1 onion, sliced
4 greenchillies, cut into slits
salt as per taste
1/4 tsp haldi/turmeric powder
1 sprig curryleaves
1/2 cup coriander leaves
2-3 tbsp jaggery
FOR THE TADKA
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp minapappu/ urad dal
1 tsp aavaalu/mustard seeds
4 redchillies, broken into 1 inch pieces
1/4 tsp hing

METHOD OF PREPARATION

  • First clean and wash the mango, remove the peel and dice into cubes. The seed should be seperated. Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles. Once the pressure is gone remove the lid and mash into puree.
  • Take a pan and add mango puree and sufficient water, approx 1 glass water(depends on the tangyness of mango). If the mixture is too tangy u can add some water depends on your taste. Taste and add water.
  • Add onions, green chillies, curryleaves, coriander leaves, salt, haldi, jaggery to the mango puree mixture and mix. Let it boil on medium heat until onions are completely cooked. 
  • Take a tadka pan, add oil. When the oil is heat add the ingredients FOR THE TADKA and let it fry.
  • Add this to the boiling mixture and mix. Let it boil for 5 min.
  • Garnish with coriander and curry leaves and serve hot with hot steamed rice.
